Developing an Entrepreneurial mindset Part Nine

entrepreneurial mindset

Now let's look at how to program your subconscious mind with positive self-talk. First, you need to reprogram your negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Here are some examples.

  • “Will I ever learn how to...?” replaced with, “I learn everything I put my mind ”
  • “It’s another one of those days!” replaced with, “It’s a great day; I’m ready to conquer any challenge put in front of me.”

The goal is to replace negative beliefs with positive affirmations. Again, the affirmations must be in the present tense: “I exercise every day.” Also, they must be specific: “I walk two miles every day.” They must be personal and honest: “My health gets better and better every day.” They must fit your values: “I enjoy being in good health.”

If you want your affirmations to quickly take effect, you need to say them daily. You can’t change your performance by focusing on where you are falling short. You must focus on what you want and act as if you have already accomplished the goal. Your subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between reality and fiction.

Earl Nightingale, author of The Strangest Secret, would say, “What you think about, you bring about.” He also was known for saying, “A person will become what he or she thinks about all day long.” If people think about being happy or making money, they will achieve it. If they think about their mistakes or reasons they can’t do something, they will attract that to themselves, and life will be very challenging.

Become aware of the language you use around others and your employees or customers. They won’t let you down—they will become what they hear you say the most. I always cringe when I hear managers say things like, “You’ll never amount to anything,” and then wonder why their employees stop trying, or, “You’re a slob. You never take time to...” and then wonder why their employees become inefficient.
